crashing on 10.6.8
« on: May 07, 2017, 08:47:18 pm »

Hi, I've had a look through these pages but can't find exact issue elsewhere

Been using MC22 on Windows for a while

I upgraded my existing Windows license to a Master MC23 license as I want to use MC on my Mac Book Pro.

I've now downloaded MC 22 onto my Mac from here and it's in my Application Folder, but I can't open it. It just crashes before I get to see the GUI (quits unexpectedly)

I've tried to do  a "restore" using the new Licence key i purchased , which gives a MC 23 Master  .mjr file, but I don't know what to do with it. I've double clicked it and told the computer to open it using MC, but it still just crashes after a few seconds without opening

I know MC23 is not released yet so am wondering if the problem is trying to use a 23 license on a 22 build ?(excuse my terminology...I'm an absolute novice at these things)

Any help would really be appreciated.....

really confused - should I have just purchased the MC 22 Master Upgrade instead?

Mac OS X 10.6 is no longer supported in MC 22.0.93. The latest version that should still run properly on 10.6 is 22.0.43, you can get that version here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,108178.0.html

But keep in mind using that older, compatible with 10.6 MC22 build that it won't accept the MC23 license (only the newer builds do - and you can only get MC23 licenses now).

If you can and are willing to update your MacBook to a newer OS X, I highly recommend doing so!

thanks for the replies - i now have that version running on my (10 year old) Mac Book Pro.

Would it be possible for me to use my "old" MC22 License Key on this version? Or would my "upgrading" to MC23 Master Licence make the "old" license void (hope that makes sense)

I can't afford to upgarde the Mac Book Pro at the moment, and Snow Leopard is the last version it can install...

Thanks again for your help - I'm really enjoying using the Media Center

If you had a MC22 Mac license already, it remains valid and you can use it on that MacBook just fine.

ah yes - i wasn't thinking straight....I only had MC 22 Windows License so that's no help to me here!

It looks like upgrade of my Mac is the only option if I want to use the "master" license I purchased  That will have to wait a while in any case as last time I looked my bank account wasn't ready for that....

Oh well, I'll just enjoy the trial version for a while on the Mac.

Thanks again for your help - it's much appreciated.
