Any info on I2S to HDMI?
« on: May 15, 2017, 10:01:34 am »

Hi everyone, I was thinking about getting one of these:

http://www.audiophonics.fr/en/interfaces/audio-gd-diy-kit-i2s-to-hdmi-output-module-p-9347.html

I am fortunate to have a PS Audio Nuwave DSD DAC, which has a proprietary HDMI style I2S input.

So my JRiver software question is, if linux recognizes it, would it show up as an option under audio output for I2S?  Someone on this thread https://volumio.org/forum/raspberry-music-player-with-i2s-out-over-hdmi-t2441-10.html mentioned getting it working, but since I'm using the Id Pi I wanted to check in before I start ordering hardware from overseas!

I looked through that thread and to me it's difficult to say.
There is no mention of whether or not the device then shows up as a typical ALSA device and if so are there additional drivers or specific kernels required?
