IdPi Resolution

I'm connecting to the Pi Id with VNC, but the resolution is pretty limiting. Many of the configuration screens are too large for the default resolution.

Is there a way to change the resolution of the desktop when connecting to Pi over VNC?


semi-related: is there a way to SSH to the Pi or at least get a plain console window?

That may be a VNC thing.  I don't know.

Did you try connecting to the Id via Panel? 

In a browser, enter 192.168.0.12:52199, but use the IP address of the Id.  Then look for the Settings icon at the bottom left.

There isn't an option to configure the screen resolution in Panel.

For a normal raspberry pi you configure it by running raspi-config, then selecting Advanced Options > Resolution. That's why I was curious about getting a console prompt.

I'll try editing the /boot/config.txt of the Pi Id memory card and see if that works.

You may not need to edit the resolution if you can do what you need from Panel.

Try setting the Id interface to text (not GUI).

I added a network drive to my Id Pi, but can't add the mounted folder to the import options from the Panel.

The panel, for what it's worth, seems a little buggy. I can't even view the network drive config or status from the panel.

Yeah. Rebooting makes no difference for displaying network drive information

Try selecting headless display, then reboot it.  When I connect with VNC it comes up in full 1080p resolution, just hit alt tab and the JRiver window will come onto the screen.  For some reason using it the other way doesn't display in full resolution.

In GUI mode it works if you have a monitor attached. It seems the Pi goes into VGA mode if no monitor is attached when you boot it in GUI mode.
