Photo Acquiring Problem
« on: July 07, 2003, 06:29:00 pm »

I've just noticed what appears to be a bug with acquiring photos from my Kodax DX4330.  There were 105 photos on the Smartmedia card when I acquired with MC.  Unfortunately, it did not copy all the files to the hard drive.  But more unfortunately, it deleted all the files from the Smartmedia card.

Luckily I thought to do a manual copy to a temp folder before acquiring.

Of course, it may not be an MC bug - but I'm using the standard XP drivers for my camera which shows up as a Scanners and Cameras in Explorer.  I've never had any trouble with APA, but then again, I didn't try to download 105 photos at once.

I can't copy photos back to the camera using the XP driver.  When I get some time I'll switch drivers, copy 105 images to the camera and see what happens.

Has anyone else experience problems with large numbers of photos not being all acquired?  A bit of caution (or, rather, precaution) might be warranted...

I've done a lot of this and haven't seen a problem.  Are you certain the photos aren't there?

I'm positive the photos weren't there.  Positive!

I wonder if it's a problem with how MC interfaces with the XP WIA drivers.  Does your camera use WIA, PTP, or USB MSDC drivers?
