PCM to DSD conversion
« on: June 13, 2017, 03:44:19 am »

Hello
I am using JRiver with both
1-> a DSD capable Teac UD503 DAC connected by async. USB
2-> An Oppo BDP105 connected via LAN (i.e. acting as a DLNA renderer). Unfortunately the Oppo does not diplay conding information (bith depth, sampling rate and DSD) when used as a renderer
3-> remotely via JRemote or JRiver client on my work laptop
I'd like that
- all file be encoded by mp3 only when accessing the server remotely (case 3) to save bandwidth
- all PCM 16@44.1 be encoded to DSD (128 but 256 or 512?) when used in my home LAN
Is the a way for this? Probably not all is possible, I just ask for advice befor emess up thing in the DLNA->Advance->Output format
Does the Output format menu applies just when the Server is usaed as a DLNA server? if yes, what about output conversion if the server is driving an USB DAC?
The UD503 can convert to DSD natively but I'd prefer JRiver for this (it is using floating point math possibly which is better)
thanks for clearing things
