International characters are not handled well.
« on: May 27, 2017, 08:19:31 am »

When ripping CD's track titles with Swedish characters are sometimes not properly displayed.
The Scandinavian characters are there, but there is a mixup between Capitals and Versal characters next to the Scand. characters.
Example:

"Vals På ÄNgön" should have been "Vals På Ängön"
"Här äR Den Sköna Sommaren" should have been "Här Är Den Sköna Sommaren"

It looks like it is not consistent, but if there is a rule to it I have not yet been able to figure it out.

It's possible the error is in the data itself.

This is consistent for many independent rips of Scandinavian material.
Please explain what you mean by "the data itself".

An additional item on the same subject:
Scandinavian characters in the track title correctly shown in the GUI, are not the same when exporting a playlist in m3u format.
Example:
GUI:Göteborgsmusiken / Svenska Sommarfavoriter 1 / Solöga
m3u: Go?teborgsmusiken/Svenska Sommarfavoriter 1/07 - Solo?ga.flac

I don't know how this reads in a US based browser, here is the hex code for both:

What character set is used in the export?

When you rip a CD the data comes from info that others have already uploaded. It's common to find spelling and case errors. That's what Jim means when he says it's possible the errors are in the data.

bnilsson11 - With the very short time I have had with MC, this has been my experience as well. In this case I ripped with iTunes and imported the files into MC. So far so good.
