« on: July 05, 2003, 03:26:03 am »

I have a double convertion running
WMA9 to mp3 and ,and ,when finish to ogg.
Around 1000 songs.

Do you think i can play a DVD at the same time- with MC or WinDVD ?

Depends on whetehr or not your video card has a hardware MPEG Decoder or not.  if ti has should not be a problem, if not then I would say it would probably be too much strain on the CPU to try and do both...

Z - I'd say you could even without one with that spec computer.

Why on earth would u convert from wma to mp3 and then to ogg???

Each time your converting from oneformat to the next your making the quality worse andworse.

Those original wma files are going to be better quality than your final ogg ones?

ah fair enough.
Why not just do direct to the formats from the original instead of going to wma inbetween?

For many reasons;
when i take cds from friends ,i do not take just few cds ,i take TONS of  cds.
In this case you cannot keep it a long time.

So APE or WMA9 lossless the solution because fast and lossless.
Now i use the WMA format ,because i think one day a kind of Ipod reading a lossless format out.
In this case ,i am sure it would be the WMA format.

The other reason i use WMA 9 is that MM superTags works with this format.
In no time i get the sleeves from it and know the sleeves i have to try to find on the net ,or scan.

Like it ,i can give back 200 ,300 or more cds back  after few days.

After that ,i have all my time to make the 2 convertions.

The OGG are uploaded by a friend from my ftp site.
When a player out ,i will download from him the same songs , but WITH sleeves ,tags ,comments ect ect.

At this time , i  keep the mp3 on my computer.
To make cds to friends and family and back-up for me.

When listening to the songs ,i delete ,or no the mp3 and the WMA.
All the  albums i do not like ==delete both formats
Albums i like == keep mp3 ,delete wma
Albums i love == keep mp3 and wma

Concerning my cds ,i still rip to wma ,or Ape and after convert to mp3 and ogg.
The ogg are uploaded by......mp3 keep on my computer and lossless format deleted because i still have the original cds.

Here all the process.
