Hi

Is there I need something to re-configure in order to play 24-bit content?
I get an error that sample rate unsupported, unless I switch to exclusive mode

I don't understand what you mean :-(

I just remove a 'Exclusive' checkbox from device settings, and then I get an error.

Some devices work with exclusive mode.  Some don't.  Did you try using DSP Studio?  It's under the Tools menu.

Yes, of course, I know DSP Studio, all the rates are set properly, and I can play with Kernel Streaming.

But when I try to use WASAPI with Exclusive mode, my computer immediately restarts.

I was in touch with m2tech, a vendor of the USB interface inside the DAC, and they told me not to use Exclusive mode.
When I de-select the exclusive mode, I get an error from JRiver about unsupported rate

Is it a driver issue? I just do not know how does it work between the driver, Windows and JRiver

If I remember right, the story is something like this:

To play multiple different sample rates, MC needs to change the sample rate setting on the WASAPI driver for your DAC.  But, Windows uses your DAC for sound output also, and is normally accessing it at 44.1kHz.  So, MC isn't able to change the sample rate and thus can't play other sample rates.  If you check exclusive mode, then MC has exclusive access to the DAC and doesn't have to worry about Windows locking the sample rate.

Jim is suggesting that you downsample everything to 44.1kHz so you can *not* use exclusive mode, and still have windows talk to your DAC for system sounds and sounds from other apps.

A long shot - in Windows setup for sound (from Control Panel) select the device and choose Advanced. Make sure the 2 Exclusive options are checked.
