Playing files from a remote pc on network
« on: January 31, 2003, 08:26:12 am »

I have a home network and I have one pc with media jukebox ver. 7.2 loaded which is connected to my tv and stereo and is communicating with the network through a wireless network card.

I would like to access media jukebox from another currently networked pc but have it play on my stereo via the pc that has media jukebox loaded and is connected to my stereo.

Is that possible? If not is it possible in upgraded version?

Thanks.

I would recommend that you switch to Media Center because that's where there is a lot of active development in this area.  You can then look at WebRemote, NetRemote, and Glissando as possibilities.  Try a search here or follow some of these links:

www.netremote.org
talks to
www.girder.nl

Girder usually is used with an IR receiver called IRMan.  Sometimes it's  used with Redrat or UIRT2.  You could find out more on the HTPC section of  AVSForum.  It's here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=26

Pronto?  Not sure.  I think it's a Philips product, but you could find out
here:

www.remotecentral.com

Our 3rd party plug-ins board on Interact has a link to Glissando.

WebRemote is our plugin.  It's on the plug-ins page with the Interface
plug-ins.

There are some SDK's for what we're doing here:

http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/developers.html

WebRemote was built by using the "Interface plug-in SDK" there.
