Lost Data after 9.1.209 upgrade
« on: July 01, 2003, 07:45:00 am »

I'm in big trouble.... I've been trying MC9.1 on my work computer, so I haven't been worried about messing up my music. (Its all on my home computer).. But without thinking about it I started to import some photos that were only on my work computer, and not backed up. (Daily photos of the new house being built)!!!!!

Last night I upgradeed to 9.1.209, played with some music files and went home. This morning I went to look at some photos and they are all gone. All the photos I had imported are no longer on my hard drive, the folders are there, but no images.

I know its my fault, but does any have any ideas about what happened to them, or if there is a way to get them back?

Any help would be great.

Maybe a dumb question, not there in MC or not there in Windows Explorer? Did you checked the recycle bin? If you don't find them stop any writing operations to your HD to give a recovery tool a chance.

ok, try a simple test: search for *.jpg on all drives. If for some unknown reasons the files are moved this will find them. I never heard that MC deleted files unless you apply. Weird. However, never give up. And remember: Backup is for cowards only   ;)

I downloaded Active@ File Recovery from the web and was able to recove about 3/4 of the photos. The rest only showed the first few lines of the image.

Many of the files had new names... Most in the form
