Who if anyone is able to play 4K format? If so what do you use to rip the 4K Blu Ray with?

MC has no issues playing UHD / 4K Material in file format and should soon also support playback from UHD BD structures (discs or folder).  This will allow you to play non-encrypted UHD BD Material (Folders and Disc).  If you are after playback of your commercial/encrypted UHD BD Titles, then you are out of luck for now as at present there is no UHD BD decrypter available.  As a result, I currently use an XBoxOneS for this duty - cheap, UHD BD & Atmos support.

This been covered somewhere ... I dont recall where.

To my knowledge only PowerDVD can play UHD commercial disks (encrypted disks) on Windows  ... but you need specific hardware.

BD player that are certified for Ultra HD Blu-ray playback (think atm its only Pioneer)
Kaby Lake CPU
Motherboard that supports Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX)

Yeah - I've read the blurb, bought the HW and gave up - the XBoxOneS is much cheaper and just works.
