[Feature Request] Default audio playback device
« on: October 08, 2017, 11:35:40 pm »

In my typical usage pattern with JMC on my laptop I find myself changing the playback device about twice a day and I wonder there is a chance to make that more convenient.

In its most simplistic form I am looking for a way to select a default playback device that JRiver automatically falls back to when the selected audio device is not available. In my case I am using a USB DAC at home but at work or in a different room I often switch back to default DirectSound device. Today that means navigating to the audio device settings twice to switch it forth and back.

A more sophisticated version of this could be a sorted list of audio devices per zone that JMC checks and then plumbs the first in the list it finds. I also have a mobile USB DAC so on some days I cycle through 3 different settings.

What do other users think about this?

Cheers

Set up separate zones per device?

And then switch zones? I used to do that for while but it still is tedious. A simple last resort playback would be nice...
