  • Excellent piece of software, this Media Center...

Just upgraded from MC20 to MC23 and getting this error when selecting any Track Info template. The error also suggests to reinstall, which I did.

I've tried both Inet Explorer and Chromium in the Tree and View settings with the same results...

Any idea how I can fix this? Seems I'm the only one experiencing it as a quick search didn't turn anything up in the forum.

Thanks,
Kwake

  • Where did I put my teeth?

Any plug-ins for a 64 bit version must also be 64 bit.  Is that the problem?

A specific example might help.

No external plugins to speak of, just a clean install.

I did however install it on a second computer and there is no problem - everything works fine.

So it's a particular issue on the one computer and obviously outside of MC.

Will try re-installing the browser and see if it will fix it.

Thanks,
Ken

You aren't on a particular Windows variant without Internet Explorer, or something like that, are you?

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64bit and MS Internet Explorer is installed, although I never use it. My default browser is Google Chrome 64bit.

I tried toggling back and forth between IE and Chromium in the MC settings, but same issue either way.

Really bizarre as I didn't have the problem on the same machine when running my previous version MC20.

Trying to figure out what a good next step would be other than trying to re-install Chrome, as I don't think that will change much since even the IE option isn't working.

  • Autumn shade...

MC doesn't use the installed Chrome that's on a system - it'll download and use its own Chromium engine.

The only reason I can think of is that JRWeb.exe fails to run, maybe an antivirus blocking it? Things that interact with the web are often more prone to blocking.

Hmm, I don't see JRWeb.exe running in the Windows task manager after I launch MC23...should it be showing there?

If it's not running, any tips on how I can get it to run successfully? I've already uninstalled and re-installed, and even tried MC22 which has the same problem on this PC.

Thanks, Kwake

Thanks Hendrik, your suggestion to look into JRWeb.exe did the trick!

I went ahead and found JRWeb.exe in the MC program directory and ran it by double clicking, and lo and behold my Track Info screen was working again.

Checked Task Manager and there are two instances of JRWeb.exe running - not sure if that's normal or not - but the important thing is it's working again!

I tested closing MC, making sure JRWeb.exe shut down (which it did), then ran MC again and now it runs automatically at startup, so looks like problem solved!

Cheers, thanks for your help! Kwake
