Hello,

I recently upgraded from MC20 to MC23.  This was posted in the upgrade thread but I thought it would get more views on a separate thread.  I have a dedicated audio only server running 64 bit MC23 under Windows 10 with Fidelizer and Audio Optimizer.  For optimum sound quality I bridge the ethernet ports and have one connected to the internet and the other connected to a SoTM SMS-200 network adapter though a Aqvox switch.  For some reason when I run this in 32 bit it works fine but when under 64 bit, I cannot see the NAS.

In the past I was able to rectify this by running msconfig and restarting under normal mode but this no longer works under 64 bit MC23.  Any thoughts?  TIA.

Unfortunately the use of "audio optimizers" (e.g. Fidelizer, Audio Optimizer, JPLAY, etc.) isn't supported by JRiver.

JRiver does not support running Media Center on Windows Server, especially when in Core Mode, or with any kind of third-party OS "enhancer" utilities. If you are doing either of these things, then we will be unable to assist you with any issues you encounter.

Does Windows see your NAS (i.e. can you see your NAS in file explorer?)?

Did you check your library setting? ... I lost my library (small one fortunately) when upgraded to 64 bit

Did you try restoring a library backup? If you have a valid backup (just in case) you should never lose a library after an upgrade. It still may be recoverable from a previous backup.

I can see the NAS with a browser when I enter the IP address. 
Windows R then type msconfig and then restart with normal mode.

I actually got it to work with FLAC and sometimes DSF but some DSD and some DSF still don't work.  I have to force the output with DSP Studio under DLNA.  Weird.

What is the file extension(s) of the DSD files? Surely not .dsd or something like that? They should either be .dff or .dsf or .wv (if you're using WavPack's new DSD support) or .iso if it's a SACD ISO.

The DSD would be ISO but the DSF are either dff or dsf. All file extensions worked fine under 32 bit MC20.

Did/do you have a drive letter mapped to the file system on the NAS? From what you say above that could just be the NAS web management interface and not the file system that contains your media files that need to be seen by Windows. . . (tij effectively asked the same question already)

Why would that affect DSD and not DSF or FLAC?  JRiver and jremote can see the files but cannot play all of them. But the answer is no drive letter assignment. But I can drill down into folders and files.

It might be driver problem ... it was mentioned somewhere you need 64bit drivers for 64 bit JRiver

Yes. It works well. I’m stumped why dsf works but iso doesn’t. Also I can’t control the volume with dsf. But the sound quality is stunning. The space and detail is the best I have ever heard.

Have you tried setting the file type to DSD for the ISOs? I seem to recall a user was having a similar issue (over DLNA, if I recall correctly) which was only fixed after setting the file type.

Of course, you could always use sacd_extract to extract .dff files (avoid .dsf files, as there's a bug which causes pops at the end of files) from the ISO. That's what I did with the ISOs I have, and it works beautifully.

I do not have any of these issues with the v23/64bit playing DSF or ISO and I use mapped drives.

How odd. I dragged an iso to my surface pro c drive das and it still wouldn’t play.

Well, I tried that and it works, so it isn't 23/64, per se.  Must be something else.

I believe that 'popping' bug has long since been fixed. If padding was added/needed by sacd_extract at the end of the very last 'frame' it could cause a 'pop'. A new version  of sacd_extract that addressed the issue was released.
