EXTERNAL HDD SLOWS DOWN VIDEO PLAYBACK
« on: October 20, 2017, 07:25:53 pm »

Hi I just bought a hard drive dock (usb3.0) & a 2tb sata3  hdd and i was planning to use it to play back my ripped dvds but it really seems to have trouble -jerky etc also I'm running it on a 58 inch tv and whenever i try to lower the resolution to compensate for my machine being a bit slow (im running a braswell celeron nuc5cpyh) it makes the picture about 30% of its original size when ive only gone down to about 2880 from 3480x2160can.  Can anyone help me I have no idea why

Is it plugged into a USB 3 port?

yes it is plugged into the usb 3.0 port- I managed to get it going on mc22 when i lowered the frame rate to 24 fps at 3840x2160 which is great but mc 23 doesnt like it for some reason its jerky and stutters i dont know what im doing wrong there but mc 22 is fine for now :-) but if anyone can tell me any settings that need to be tweaked on mc 23 for it to buffer more or whatever that would be a great help  ;D

Windows Defender has caused similar problems.

Put the path to the drive in Defenders exclude list.

I had this problem when I used external drives. Defender scans your file for nasties which slows things up any time you access the drive.

What I do i is to have a working drive covered by anti virus for safety. Once I have. Processed the file I drop it into my library structure that is watched by MC

Should sort you out ...
