Got a couple of crashes on my new rig. 
- 1st crash: MC was not doing anything at the time but a "Program has stopped working" box appear
- 2nd crash: started MC and tried to output the log and it crashed again

I could only get the log from the 2nd crash (attached) but I don't see anything of interest in it.

Got another one (attached) - Oddly both happened exactly when NextCloud (client) synced down a couple of photo.  I had just installed it.  Will reboot and see if it happens again.

Couple more crashes but then OK.  Nothing to do with Next Cloud Client (just a coincidence).  All other apps fine (did a test rerip of a UHD disk that took 6 hours during this time and it worked fine and had a correct checksum).

edit - also disabled my OC to see how that goes

Yup - No OC and I've also turned off XMP as well, however I hope there is something in the log

PC was running fine on stock so to narrow the crash issue down I then enabled XMP Profile and after a while (and some load - couple of cores flat out ripping 2 x UHD BD) odd stuff started happening / not responding then Windows Blue Screened.  I'll post on the ASUS forum but any advice (as I thought XMP was a safe bet).
- ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero MB (latest BIOS 0505)
- Corsair H110i CPU Cooler
- G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (4x8GB) PC4-25600 (3200MHz) DDR4, 16-18-18-38-2N, 1.35v, Quad Channel Kit
- Samsung 512GB SSD, 960 PRO Series, m.2 (PCIE), Read up to 3500MB/s, Write up to 2100MB/s, Type 2280

I've also updated the chipset drivers from the ASUS website and kept an eye on the temps and they look OK (sub 50 degrees cent).

Back to stock for now and I'll see if it happens again (start the rips again).

XMP is usually safe, but especially on a new platform it might take a few BIOS updates. Personally i've had some bad luck with ASUS boards the last years, so I don't use them anymore.

Thanks - Does XMP make much of a difference anyway from a MC POV for transcoding (also I'm trying to improve the single threaded performance of DeUHD to reduce the ripping time)?

The memory performance difference is probably not that huge in the real world, but personally if i paid for better memory, I would also want to use it.
One should note that technically using XMP counts as overclocking (at least the memory controller, since its officially rated for 2666MHz or something like that on Coffee Lake), even if its something you just flip a switch on.

FYI - I've got it nice and stable @ 5GHz all cores with slightly slower OC memory settings for now (3000 vs 3200).  Will wait for the next BIOS update to see if I can use the full 3200 on the memory.  Still fighting with other issues on this new build.  Main one is the I end up eating all my memory (MetaFile increases) when accessing the ReFS DrivePool.
