Dropbox frontend?
« on: November 09, 2017, 12:33:40 pm »

Have you considered implementing a Dropbox web frontend?

o The files would reside in Dropbox
o the display schemes, database code stuff, would be running on your site
o Schemes/views could be designed on the clients
o IPTC MC tags could determine  public availability

Is this even possible? I know that Dropbox limits access to metadata, but maybe a local server could supply this data? For speed?

If we were to do something like this, I think we'd probably use Amazon, Google, or our own servers, but Dropbox might also be a good choice.  We've thought about doing it.

I guess most of those services supply some kind of API which, when trusted, allows a 3. party to access thumbs and full size images.

Then your web frontend could act as a client to a users library.
