Id Pi no internet when using ethernet
« on: November 16, 2017, 08:46:47 pm »

All of my PCs work fine using ethernet cable with my router. Internet has no issues.
My Pi works fine with DLNA, JRemote, etc using ethernet cable with my router.

Problem is my Pi cannot connect to internet using ethernet cable with my router.
So no updates, no artist images and no metadata look ups are available.
It will however connect to the internet fine when connected to my router using wifi.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get internet through ethernet cable on my Id Pi?

Thanks

If you run function 11 from the main menu it will tell you the IP address on the interface(s) and at the bottom the default route.
Check those for errors and see what the difference between them is when you are connected wirelessly vs wired.

Sounds to me like the DHCP configuration is bad and you are missing a default route.

Thanks Bob
Looks like I have it working for now.

I am using a static ip address on my Pi. (when I am not, internet works).
I added my DNS server address to "DNS Server 1" in the connection properties and now I have internet.
I'm not sure if, or how often, my DNS server changes but for now everything seams to be working.
I will post a screenshot of my setting later.

When you use a static IP you do need to add a DNS server or check the box to use the dhcp supplied server which might not work with all DHCP servers. Good to hear you solved it!
