Twice I've had the following problem. I rip a multi-CD set, supplying disc number for each CD. The end result is that tracks are ripped, and JRiver shows the correct disc tag. But in MP3Tag or Roon, no disc number tag is available, nor is any other tag (at least in the case of MP3Tag). I can cure the issue by fiddling with JRiver options and playing around (most recently by deleting the cover art, which was wrong anyway). But what is really going on? What JRiver settings are necessary to ensure that tag information (like disc number) is available to other programs like MP3Tag and Roon?

I am running JRiver MC 23.84 x64 on Win10 x64 Pro.

are you saving the tags into file?

tools>options>library&folders>manage library fields

make sure the box is checked to save into file for the tags you are interested in.  i can see all of my tags in mp3tag and itunes, etc. and there is no setting to "hide" them from another program

you can try to "update tags from library" and see if it forces things to happen?

this is not a normal issue, so without a bunch more info no one can tell you what is really going on.

In the Tag window under Tag Dump you can see the tags that are stored in the file, rather than in the library. You can check there to see what tags and what values are stored in the file.

Daft suggestion ...

You didn’t get an error saying your files are read only. It’s very common in downloaded files

The files were ripped from a CD, not downloaded. And I just checked, just to be safe: The files aren't marked read-only.

Are the tags and their values listed in Tag Dump in the Tag Window?

The tags are visible, now at least, in Tag Dump. When I had this problem before, I looked at Tag Dump before I fixed things, and at that time, there was almost nothing in Tag Dump.
