Direct access to files from Client different OS

Hello Forum,

Is it possible to have direct file access in Client (Windows) Server (Linux, IdPi) setup by the client? I think the Problem are the different File paths on the two Machines, due to different operating systems.

Background: I want to sync my handheld from the client which is really slow and even sometimes crashing because before sync the Client have to download the files. At least this is my theory.
