Default Web Browser Setting
« on: December 10, 2017, 02:37:45 pm »

Just curious, since MS Internet Explorer has been phased out and is no longer supported or updated, is MS Edge browser going to be added to the setting Under Tools > Options > Tree and View > Web Browser? The current choice still shows IE as the only option other than Chrome.

IE is still supported by Microsoft until all OSes run out of support that have nothing but. Unfortunately, Microsoft also does not currently enable Edge to be used integrated into an application like we use IE/Chrome - not as far as I could research anyway.

Interesting. Supporting or updating I may have used the wrong word... anyway I was under the impression that MS was no longer "updating" IE. Edge is what it is, but it does keep getting better. Not a huge fan of Edge, but it is what I have been using.  :-\ :-[

MS still updates IE, it gets security fixes every month. But new features? Nope.

IMO if MS drops all support for IE (and removes it from the OS, along with Windows 7/8 support ending) the Chromium engine would probably replace it as the default.

I would really like to offer an Edge option though, it would probably provide a really good result with full media support and everything out of the box without a huge extra download. Unfortunately I don't think that is something that can currently be done. Maybe in the future..
