Installed 32 bit build by mistake

I installed 32bit by mistake can I just install the update in 64 or do I have to uninstall then install the update? Sorry such a newbie
I would be grateful for instructions

Just in case, I'd do a library backup in the 32-bit build, then uninstall the 32-bit build then finally install the 64-bit build.
