Trouble with Rio Plug-in
« on: January 29, 2003, 03:46:51 am »

I was able to download and install Rio 300 plug-in within MM 8.0.315 quite smoothly and Rio Icon appeared promptly under CD, DVD, & Handhelds.

However Rio 300 plug-in does not function properly :

(a) Clicking on Rio Icon invariably shows message " The RioPort device is disconnected or powered off. Please reconnect the player"  - this is despite the fact the player is switched on and properly connected to Parallel port.

(b) After unplugging/re-plugging the connecting cable into the player - a +sign appears next to Rio Icon and an Internal Icon appears below.  Icon for External does not however appear.

(b) Clicking on Internal does not show any contents and many a times MM8 stops responding/freezes.

The System Info is :

Install Path: C:\Program Files\Media Jukebox\

aspi_jamula,

To work well with MJ you need to get the Rio drivers installed that come with the MJ Plugin. If XP has already installed the drivers that come with it, I would suggest that you remove them fully by following the directions at

http://www.sonicblue.com/support/rio/default.asp?menu=support&submenu=Legacy_Rio&item=faqs&product=Rio_500_PC#20399

Also uninstall the Rio Plugin for MJ. Make sure your Rio is disconnected and reboot.

After you reboot and BEFORE you connect your Rio, download the MJ Rio plugin. When you connect your Rio and XP asks if you want to install the default drivers, DO NOT accept the default, instead, point the installation to look in your System32 directory where it will find the drivers that we distribute with the Plug-in.

YOU MUST LOG IN ONCE AND THEN REBOOT AND LOG IN AGAIN TO GET THIS TO WORK.

After this, you should be set. If you are still stuck email me at steve@jriver.com

Your using the newer plug-ins w/ older MJ. D/L and install latest MJ (8.0.394). That should fix it.

10-28

edit > Looks like you have Nero installed. You may (or may not) have interaction problems between the two unless you have the absolute latest version of Nero installed.
