When I first installed MC9 (9.0.180), I thought I was supposed to install the iPod plug-in (9.0.30) from the web site as well (which I did.)  Now I'm not clear that this was necessary or even advisable.  What's the straight story on this?  Is/was the plug-in needed for MC 9.0.180, and if not, did I mess anything up by installing it?

MC automatically installs a Plugin which enables connection to the iPod when it is installed.  I am continuing to make modifications to the Plugin and post them on the Plugin page. Many of these modifications require moving to MC 9.1 to work. I always try to make them backwards compatible with 9.0.180 even though the improved fuctionality is often not enabled.

Do ANY of the modifications apply to the 9.0.180 release, or are they ALL applicable to MC9.1?

Some do some don't. The more time passes, the less modifications will affect 9.0.180.  Ideally everyone would make the leap to 9.1, but I totally understand that this is not always an option.  Until 9.0.180 goes away, I need to make sure the Plugin works with it as much as possible.

What I'm curious about are the specifics of using the 9.0.30 plug-in with the 9.0.180 build of MC.  In other words, does the 9.0.30 plug-in add ANYthing to MC9.0.180, or is only MC9.1 effected?  The way you said "Many of these modifications require moving to MC 9.1" implies that there could be 'some' changes that effect 9.0.180 as well, but I'm unclear about this.

There are some, but I do not have great notes on what specifically. I would recommend going to the latest plugin.
