Who, specifically, is the EPG provider for MC23?  I am unable to find, on the link you provided.

I currently do not have JRiver installed, and wanted to get as much information before auditioning JR 23.  I, and many others, are looking for a replacement for Windows Media Center, and our DVR systems can be complicated, and time consuming to set up.  Testing another DVR system, while concurrently using Windows Media Center, can affect its reliability, and I don't want to break anything.  Please correct me if I am wrong, but, after some research, it looks like JRiver is currently using Rovi, as its default EPG provider.  Windows Media Center currently uses Rovi as a provider.

Yes the default guide data comes from the same source as WMC.

Setting up JRiver on the same PC as WMC won't break WMC, but others have been posting here lately trying to do this are having trouble with Live Tv in JRiver like pixellation/stutter. Sharing tuners gets complex.

Thanks tzr916.
Information for potential MC customers:  Although Rovi had a rocky start when they took over EPG duties from Zap2it, for WMC, a few years ago, they have steadily made improvements.  I have noticed much better accuracy, in WMC, especially over the last 6 months or so.  Hopefully Rovi keeps on improving and MC customers will be satisfied with their default provider, which is included with the license.  If a 3rd party EPG provider is needed, JRiver, as of MC21, has the option to go with Perc Data.  Perc Data is an EPG service used by Silicon Dust.  Their services are $30 per year.  MC has it integrated, so setup only needs a user name and password.

By the way, the wiki article on EPG is slightly outdated.  In particular, the option "Download EPG automatically (recommended)" has been removed.  In its place is "mc2xml" which downloads data from Rovi.  The new "Method for loading Electronic Program Guide" page now looks like the attached image.
