Using JRiver with Marantz AV-8802a
« on: July 17, 2018, 10:49:46 am »

Hi JRiver team,
I'm running trial version MC on Mac. Media network was enabled, from 8802a's control, I can successfully play .dff files which located on MC. However when control from MC on Mac, I can see AV-8802a showed in playing, can even start to play the same file, but there do not have voice out from AV-8802a, The screen output of 8802a did showing correct title, and the progress of the playing, but just no voice comeing out.  ? What can I tried to over come?

Regards,
Laser

Welcome to the forum.  Sometimes a device will work in one direction but not the other.

For the case, that doesn't work, try setting the server to convert to PCM.

A direct connection via cable might also work, without conversion.

Can you show me a standard way to config DLNA server for original DSD bitsteaming to AVR? Or redirect me to web page where have all setting items explained.

I tested it did work with converstion to MP3.

DLNA may not work.  You would need to tell MC's DLNA Server to not convert and then the Marantz might play the unconverted file.

Better to connect it directly and not use DLNA.

My Marantz pre/pro only support HDMI or DLNA , it do not do DAC through USB.
And from I learned from this forum, seems no any device can do DSD native through HDMI except OppO, even JRiver ID will not support DSD native over HDMI.

even JRiver ID will not support DSD native over HDMI.

Because it can't, unfortunately. No computer can no matter if it's a PC, Mac, Raspberry Pi, Id, NUC, etc. The drivers for those devices simply don't support DSD, and likely never will.
