JRemote no connection via WAN if Authentication enabled.
« on: February 06, 2018, 02:17:48 pm »

I had posted this somewhere else a week or so ago but got no responses.  So Iam reposting here and will delete my other post.

Hi all.  For some reason JRemote has stopped connecting if Authentication is enabled?

This is connecting over Cellular (Or other outside network) to my JRiver MC23 Server computer.

If I disable Authentication it will connect just fine.  But enabled it will not connect.  It times out after finding the IP addresses and Computer name.

I can connect fine within my network with or without Authentication enabled.

Anyone have any ideas why enabling Authentication would prevent it from connecting?

Running MC23 on Windows 10 Pro with latest 1709 updates using standard 52199 port.  Port forwarding is enabled properly from my router or else it would not work without Authentication.  Same goes for local firewall settings.

It picks up the local internal IP address and computer name then "Times Out" waiting for MC23 to authenticate.  Same results using IP address method as well.

I would prefer not to leave Authentication turned off so would like to resolve this ASAP.

Detailed info:

On the iPhone after failing to connect I get the following report:
i   Finding computer addresses associated with access key 'xxxxxx'
i   Response received    clicking on the "i" to the right reveals:
       Server Response

<?xml version= "1.0" encoding= "UTF-8"?>
<Response Status="OK">
>keyid>xxxxx</keyid>
<ip> External ip 6 address I think?  Basically UNC Path to my ISP address
<port>52199</port>
<localiplist>192.168.0.xxx</localiplist>
<macaddresslist>'my JRiver computer mac address'

Then in the next section:
Connecting to IP:  'My internal computer IP address'
"Red Triangle" - could not connect (An error occurred while sending the request).

Connecting to IP:  (I believe this is my Ver. 6 IP address?)
"Red Triangle"   Timed Out

Thanks.

Carl

anybody?  I would really like to get this fixed so that I can use the system from outside without compromising it by removing the authentication.

Are you using 23.0.100?  It's at the top of this board.

There were some problems with authentication that were fixed in recent releases.  Update and see if it fixes your problem.

For some reason I am not getting a message when replies are posted.  I was pretty sure I had checked "Notify me of replies" but now I see that it is not checked.

I had .100 but I don't think I had tried it since it auto-updated last week.  Updated to .102 just now and it seems to work.

Thanks.

Carl.
