More RAM for Nuc Id
« on: February 28, 2018, 07:13:02 am »

Would the Nuc Id benefit from more RAM? The one I just bought can be a bit laggy and tends to freeze more often than I would expect. I have to reboot fairly often.
If I can buy more RAM, what is the max it will take and do I need to use one stick or two sticks (or does it matter)?
Thanks for your help:)

RAM wouldn't help.  What is the network?  Wireless?

What types of files are you playing?

Ethernet connection from router hooked to my windows 7 machine where all my music is (mix of flac, hi res flac, and mp3) to the Nuc Id running Linux.
I just noticed, for example, when  switching to theater view that a few times it hangs and never gets there (I just see a Van Gogh with no buttons). One time the buttons showed up about a minute later.
Doesn't happen every time, just a few times. I also notice the mouse being very laggy sometimes.
It's not a huge deal. I was just wondering if extra RAM would help it work more efficiently.
Thanks

Are you using a monitor on the Id?  Or using VNC?  The latter could cause the problem.
