JRiver Server did not Close
« on: September 30, 2018, 02:23:33 pm »

Hi at all.
I have a problem with my JRiver 24 for MAC.
Whan i close JRiver the Server remains open so i cant reopen JRiver whan i closed it before.
I have to reeboot the MAC.
If i close the server manually before closing JRiver 24 i can reopen JRiver but the server didn`t start again.
I can play pause and change musik from JRemote, but i can`t modify the Playlist or Tags.
A message appere in JRemote that i have to enable authentification on the server.
Whan i look in Options Network the authentification is selected an pass and user is set.
Also in JRemote.
I asked this also in the german forum but i didn`t get answers for this problem.
No Firewall and no Anti Virus installed.
The Music Libary is on e external disk but direkt connected via USB 3 to my mac mini with OS High Sierra 10.13.6.
Thanks
a lot
BR
Domenico
PS : Sorry, my english is not the best  ::)

When you say server, do you mean Media Server?

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Server

It can be set to start when the computer boots, and it is then available, even if MC is closed.  The wiki topic explains more.

It's normal for Media Server to continue running when you close MC.

You should probably set MC to NOT start Media Server when MC starts.
Tools > Options > Startup > mac Startup
(this is from memory and I might not have the exact words, but that should get you close)

Also, you should know that you can close Media Server at any time manually:  Look in the upper status bar of the Mac on the right.  You should see a small Media Center icon (white and blue with a play head in the center).  Click on this and you can do various things, including stopping Media Server.

Hopefully one or both of these methods will help you.

I've been looking for the Media Centre Icon (as this sounds very handy indeed) that Brian mentioned and I'm challenged to find this where it was pointed out  to be.
Are we looking at MC tool bar or the Mac header where your user account login name is displayed line?
I am running the latest build of MC24 (56) 64 bit on a MAC Book Pro (touch) with High Serria 10.13.6.
Many Thanks  :)

The MC icon will appear in the Mac display bar at the top right of the screen.  The same place where the time, wifi, bluetooth, etc icons are.

However, the MC icon WILL NOT APPEAR until you start Media Server.  Either by starting it with MC via options, or starting it on demand with Tools > Advanced Tools > Media Server .
