Playback continues even after the track has ended!
« on: March 09, 2018, 05:36:33 am »

Facing a strange issue where the playback via DLNA continues even after the track has ended! Of course, there is no audio once the track is over, but the elapsed time stoically keeps going on. Media Center does not switch to the next track. Please refer to the screenshot.
Eventually, after 5-6 minutes, I see an alert that tell me "there was a problem controlling the selected DLNA device. Double check your device, server and network settings".
My setup: Surface Pro 3, Windows 10 Pro with the latest updates, MC 23.0.102 (64 bit). I have installed the BubbleUPnP Server on my PC and using it to pass the audio on to a Chromecast Audio dongle.
Incidentally, Foobar2000 has no issues on the same setup with the same playlist -- I am using the MediaRenderer Output plugin in this case.

Try the DLNA setting for SetNextAVTransport.  Right click on the Renderer to get to settings.

Thank you for the prompt help.
Unfortunately, that did not work. The default setting had a tick mark next to the Disable SetNext Support. I unticked it, restarted Media Center, played a track... and it continued 'playing' beyond its end time.
Interestingly, when I manually switched to the next track and checked the setting, the tick mark was back! My guess is the change I made is not 'sticking'.
Is there anything else I can try? Perhaps change this setting some other way?

Try rebooting everything.  Chromecast devices can be a little flaky, in my experience.  It's also made more complicated by playing from MC to Bubble and then to Chromecast.

Try downloading the DMRA from my sig, run the test and post the report here.

PS if you enable SetNext support and then MC detects an error with a SetNext call, it will anyway automatically disable it again; that is why you find that the setting won’t stick..

Try downloading the DMRA from my sig, run the test and post the report here.

Have attached the report. I see: AVT:SetNextAVTransportURI (gapless play)=NOT Supported
Is that where the issue is? Do I need to take this up with the dev behind BubbleUPnP Server?
Thank you for your time.

Looks like this could be due to MC as a media server set up to transcode audio for some or all formats.

See this thread post #15:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114694.msg794139.html#msg794139

Playing to the BubbleUPnP Server Chromecast DLNA renderer, it is unecessary to have MC transcode anything as BubbleUPnP Server handle
it itself (transcoding to WAV, no loss of quality) whenever necessary (playing audio in a format not natively supported by Chromecast).
