Keep HDMI Alive ?
« on: March 21, 2018, 10:20:56 am »

Hi,

I am running JRiver on a Mac with Audio Only option.

All things are great except when I turn off my projector it signals the mac mini to be confused about HDMI. Unplugging the HDMI cable from the mac mini and reseating it will solve the problem but it's rather barbaric.

I think on the PC side there was an option or tool called "Keep HDMI Alive" that solved this issue... I can't find it on the mac.

Is there a way to keep the audio set to HDMI output ... even if the AVR I use is put to standby?

Edit - I ordered a  $22 EDID spoof device. It claims to act as a virtual monitor and lets the video signals also pass through. It may or may not solve this problem I should be able to test it sometime next week. From further searching on AVS people with a mac mini or other mac computer acting as HTPC have wrestled with this and some have opted for more expensive EDID spoofing devices.
