They aim at growth in sales even if the business is very unprofitable. They are betting that they can sell the business, via an IPO or an acquisition. It is a very risky strategy. The road to success is littered with dead bodies.
From our point of view, it's risky to invest in supporting services, when it's likely that fewer than half of them will be around in a few years. I'd rather build on solid ground.
