Recording rule strangeness
« on: April 30, 2018, 10:13:55 am »

First one is a show that normally airs at this time slot but for whatever reason schedule provider didn't update the slot with anything but "Program info not available". MC shows it will record, yet there is no Configure or Cancel button, instead there is a Record button (see first attachment). Some kind of bug?

Second one is a show that I missed the boat on. This show has multiple episodes on tonight and nights to come. Set a subscription rule (see second attachment), with record ALL and do NOT record if match Name, Series, Description, Season, Episode. Tried multiple variations but it just records ALL episodes (see third attachment). Maybe I misunderstand how to set this up correctly so I don't record the same episode multiple times?

The first one is indeed strange and does look like a bug.  The 9 pm show is 1:01:00 long, so the next show should start at 10:01 pm, not 10 pm.  For some reason MC decided there is a 10 pm show that would last 1 minute to file a "gap" between 10 and 10:01.  I will check what was done wrong.

Not sure of the other issue.  Have you ever recorded this episode in the past? If you have, even if it has been since deleted, MC would skip the show.

Oh, didn't even notice the one minute thing. Good eye.

On the other one, no I have not ever recorded that show. Ah, I didn't realize it actually required that the episode actually had to be recorded! Now I understand - I expect those duplicates would drop out of the tbr list as soon as the recording of the episode finishes.

Thanks.

do NOT record if match Name, Series, Description, Season, Episode. Tried multiple variations but it just records ALL episodes (see third attachment).

Theoretically the duplicate programs will drop off the "To Be Recorded" list as the first broadcast is recorded. But your settings may result in duplicates still being recorded, as often broadcasters use a different Description for the repeat, maybe just adding the word "Repeat", or a simplified Description will be used. In Australia, they often don't include the Season and Episode numbers on repeat broadcasts.

Therefore I look for repeats using just the Name and Series fields, and that seems to work much better, for my EPG data. Usually. My EPG data is really bad these days.

Have you created a View to inspect your EPG data? If so, have a look at the all the fields you are using to decide if the programs are an exact match, and if not, adjust your settings.

Just reporting that I can't seem to find any evidence that one minute recording even occurred.

I believe it was marked as to be recorded only because it was entirely covered by the other recording rule.  Therefore it would not have been actually recorded.
