I was over at my Brother's, attempting to install MC on his Mac. Upon launch, MC would flash a window for about 1/100th of a second and then crash. I'm at a loss as to why but I copied the crash dump. It is in the attached file. Any ideas as to what's going on here?

Running a Mac with Mohave (current update), JRiver 23; when I try to install I get the flash on the screen and error msg ". . .  quit unexpectedly".  I've tried deleting all JRiver files, restarting the computer and trying again - several times.  The link provided in reply to this original question is no longer valid apparently - tho' I am registered user, tells me it is not available or not available to me.

Apparently there is a known solution posted under the 24 thread but if so, I can't find it via the provided link.

thanks, first lines of the error  message follow:

Give me a few minutes to boot into my Mac partition and I'll post a tutorial.

Open Mac's System Preferences. From there go to Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.

Click on Accessibility, then press the lock button on the bottom left, input your password when prompted to unlock the settings.

Finally (once you unlock it and can make changes) make sure your Media Center 23 app is checked. Like this example with Media Center 24...

That *should* do it.

Re: MC crashing immediately {SOLVED] (Mojave and less than latest MC24)

My MC24 (now up to .74) crashes immediately whenever I try to do anything other than look at, search, or play my files. For example, clicking on Tag in the Action window always results in an immediate app quit. Report log as attached (the system report and also MC log), but I had previously updated my Privacy/Accessibility settings as per the instructions here (screenshot attached). Turns out that earlier versions of MC24, and even MC23, which used to run just fine now have the same bug. Using an iMac late 2012 running 10.14.3 (but was happening on earlier versions of 10.14 too). Any suggestions?

I have the same issue with the spontaneous ejection of MC24. I cannot see MC24 in the Privacy tab as shown by Awesome Donkey.

Make sure you're using the latest build of MC24, 24.0.75.

I checked and it is the correct build. It's really frustrating.

Try disabling auto-import and see if the crashing stops. If it does stop crashing, then you've likely got bad files.

Thanks I'll give it a try. However, the same files work fine for M23.

jlyness seems to have at least one m4a file (AAC audio) that MC is puking on.  I would recommend turning off auto import there too.

For philperry:  Recent versions of MC24 have changed something about AAC importing.  It seems to be more sensitive now to AAC files as there have been a good number of people reporting crashes.  At least 2 (maybe more?) recent versions of MC have addressed this as the JRiver team finds more AAC files that are crashing systems.  I think they are fixing the problems as they are reported.  If indeed your system is crashing because of unusual AAC (m4a) files, that would be good to know so JRiver can look at one of these files and hopefully fix the source of the crash.

Or you may have an entirely different problem.  Turning off auto import will help narrow this down.

Apple made some changes to tagging that caused these problems.

Turning off auto-import has not helped. I've actually used it to import many files, without difficulty, so I'm not surprised that turning it off didn't help.
