Streaming via sftp or https?
« on: June 05, 2018, 05:50:46 am »

I've had a good search, but I can't seem to find an answer to my question. Is it possible to add an sftp server folder or https directory listing to the library and stream the files from that?

No, but you could stream from Media Center.  The wiki has a topic called Media Network.

We're working on some other things that might apply.  Please explain the problem you're trying to solve.

Thank you for answering. I'm working through a list of madVR compatible players/media centers for my HTPC. A lot of my media is on a server, through players like VLC or MPC-HC I can stream videos directly from the server via sftp or https. This is preferential for me as it saves me having to download the entire file prior to watching. While this works fine, I'm after a media center solution that allows me to view the contents of my server in the library and play it through that. Although Kodi does offer this feature, the DSPlayer branch that supports madVR does not and only supports SMB shares, hence why I'm here and trialling this software!
