Unified sampling rate handling for DXD/DSD
« on: June 15, 2018, 08:31:53 am »

Is it possible to redesign the support of native DSD, so that in one screen we will be able to see all the available rates JRiver supports, and then to map them to rates the DAC supports?

We even agreed, that a smaller solution will be acceptable as intermediate measure if we will be able to specify Max DSD rate, supported by the DAC  (i.e. DSD/DSD128/256/512)

Max DSD Sample Rate
This setting is for devices that over-represent their DSD capabilities.

If there are high DSD rates that your device doesn't support, you can use this setting to establish a maximum rate. That way, Roon will convert higher-resolution DSD content to PCM before playback instead of trying to play it directly.

This has been discussed before. JRiver (Hendrik) acknowledged the issue but did not commit to any time frame for implementing it.

Yes!
Is it possible now to get an ETA?

Hi Jim

Is there any reason not to do it? It seems quite simple and straight forward to implement.

In the current model, if your DAC supports just DSD64, and you want to stream DSD, and suddenly you have DSD128 you won't hear it.
