DSF
« on: June 25, 2018, 11:50:50 am »

When reproducing DSF, with my DAC Weiss USB able of DSD up to 384Khz, the system in audio path says:reproducing 384khz 32 bits not enough bit to output the dsf signal directly. In my MAcBook I have 32 bit but if setting the output to WeissDac, do I need the 64bit in the configuration AudioMidi of Mac, where I only have 32?.
Any Help?

Does your DAC support DSD playback, or are you wanting to convert DSD to PCM? Right now you're actually converting DSD to PCM.

If your DAC supports native DSD playback, try enabling DSD bitstreaming and making sure volume is set to 100%. You might also have to open the Audio MIDI Setup app and setting the bit-depth/sample rate to the highest available to get DSD working (it's required for some DACs on Mac).

@Awesome Donkey, why make sure volume is set to 100%? With DSD bitstreaming enabled, I find that MC keeps automatically setting the volume slider to 50%. I can adjust it to 100%, but it quickly switches back to 50%. Is there a reason the volume must be at 100%? Could this be related to occasional dropouts I experience in dsf and dff playback?

Some DACs won't output DSD while bitstreaming correctly unless volume is set to 100% (e.g. white noise issues, etc.).

Could this be related to occasional dropouts I experience in dsf and dff playback?

Doubtful. Seeing as you're doing it over DLNA (DoPE) there's likely an issue in the setup somewhere.
