Is there a way to turn off the HDMI port on the Id Pi?  On the Hifiberry DAC + Pro review, they mention this command:

sudo /usr/bin/tvservice -o

Since there is no access to the command line, could this option be added to the menu?  Supposedly the HDMI port is always on and drawing power, so it would be nice to turn it off and reduce other sources of electrical noise on the RPi.

I don't know and this is purely conjecture but this might happen by default when the Id runs in headless mode.

Did a bit of experimentation with this and I don't think it adds anything.
The text menu should show when there is a monitor attached on boot.
If there isn't a monitor attached on boot it looks like the hdmi output is disabled anyway.

I’m very interested to make the IdPi more “ other half” friendly, we have a IdNUC  that she likes because it has a button to turn it off and on.. We have one Pi version already and another on the way at the moment, doing the hardware mod is easy but the Linux stuff is beyond me, hence the purchase of the fully baked edition.

The Pi could just be left on.  It draws around 3 watts.

There's another way you could do this.  Using Panel, the settings icon gives you access to shutdown.  Panel runs in any browser.

MCWS supports this, so you could probably use that, too.  Look for shutdown.  Start at the Developer page below.

It’s not the power it’s the cleaning, dusting and tidying up fairy that is likely to dislodge the usb power input!

I'm also looking for a way to remote reboot my Id Pi, as it seems to need a reboot every now and then. I run it headless, and it's a big pain to get a monitor, mouse, and keyboard to it.

Or, perhaps there is already something that allows me to do this and I'm missing it?

Panel is a way to talk to MC on the IdPi with a browser.

The default would be
http://ipaddressofyourpi:52199

which will give you a control panel for MC and the Id through which you can shut it down or reboot it.

You should run the check for updates function periodically to get updates to MC.
