how do you reset shell integration? (solved)

Hi  I was wondering how i can change the links in the windows context menu to activate MC24 now it keeps referring to MC22 which was my previous version.

Are you using Windows if so, which version. In Windows 10, it's easy just look in Settings under 'Defaults'. You can change to MC24 there.

Another way is from File Explorer. Right click on a music file then click on 'Open With' and tick MC24, make sure you tick 'always use this program'

thanks, its win 8.
files are already associated.
I'm looking to fix the link in context menu were for example i can choose to play a folder with MC. but when i do that now it still keeps opening MC22. if i click a single file it will open with mc24

Why keep MC22? To avoid confusion I would uninstall it (as long as you keep any back ups needed like the library). Windows 8...phew cannot
remember how that worked for file associations, so old  ;D

in MC untic it reboot maching and go back and tic it....see if that helps....if not you may have to do a reg hack

search tools>options>......at the bottom.....inside MC

Do you still have MC22 installed? If not, you're going it to need it for this...

1. In MC24, make sure Enable shell integration isn't checked in Tools > Options > General > Shell Options.

2. Close MC24.

3. Start MC22 as an administrator (right click on MC22's icon, then select run as administrator).

4. With MC22 open, go to Tools > Options > General > Shell Options and uncheck Enable shell integration.

5. Close MC22.

6. Like above, run MC24 as an administrator (right click on MC24's icon, then select run as administrator)

7. Also like above, in MC24 go to Tools > Options > General > Shell Options and check Enable shell integration.

8. Close MC24 and start MC24 normally (not as administrator) and then test the shell integration.
