Hello
I am a brand new user of JRiver and I like it, play with it, and now having a problem.
In the subject : I have followed a tuto to create a view "radio stations" and I am adding one radio stream after another.
I could setup a few that run well, but then tried to setup this one : "http://stream-uk1.radioparadise.com/aac-320.m3u"
It will never start playing....
I understand this might not be a new topic (problem with aac), but I have read some stuff, but none was related to the version  I am using.
Thanks for your help !

Got this playing in JRiver MC24.0.48 just by adding the url in File>Open URL.
It plays instantly with no problem. Don't get any coverart or name for the file just the music! Perhaps you need to udate to the latest version?
EDIT: the track name does appear in the header of the display view.

Have you looked at the Streaming page?

Look down the left side and locate the entry for "Streaming" and select it. Look for an Icon on the right for Radio Paradise and click on it. Its a higher quality stream (cd quality) and includes options like play something different (PSD).

But Marc was asking specifically about the aac-320 stream.

Yes he was. Just bringing the alternative to his notice as a new user. The url he gave works fine for me too.

Thanks for your answers.
I upgraded to 24.0.48 and could open the stream in the local player only.
I am using JRiver Media Server on my NAS (Win 10 pro 64) and want to stream content (with upnp / dlna) to renderers : sonos units and a dedicated network streamer (3D labs) plugged into a DAC. And I am using JRemote to control that. This runs great with all the FLAC files I have tried as well as other radio stream in mp3.
I could not have the aac radio stream connect to the 3D labs unit. It is supposed to support aac. Any idea ? Could this be related to the Media Server ?
And I have also seen the Radio Paradise button in the Streaming section. Is runs great in the server local player, but not when I tried to have it sent to my network renderers, to control with JRemote.
Thank again,
Marc

Ok, I think I'm right in saying that AAC wont work over DLNA.

MP3 flac etc do but not aac. Just to confirm it, if you are in the UK can you try one of the BBC hi res (320k) streams which are also aac and that will should confirm that it wont work.

Cant tell you why...

I am currently pushing the aac-320 stream to a pioneer N-50A and it is playing fine. This is over a lan network. I just added the url as a new website by right clicking on the Streamer heading in tree view. Then chose send to the pioneer network streamer - sounds very good.

Hello

For some reason, when I do this "I just added the url as a new website by right clicking on the Streamer heading in tree view. Then chose send to the pioneer network streamer - sounds very good", instead of playing the radio, it starts downloading a file ...
There must be something wrong with my install ?

PS : I'm in France

Use the File menu >  Open URL and paste it

Should work

Your install is probably fine, try using Panel to control playback from your MC Server. I have just retried the paradise -aac stream from the streaming list and it works fine. Might want to check that there is no firewall or AV blocking going on.

Hi, so did I and it worked, I could hear the radio in the local "Player".
Then I got to "Playing Now" "Overview", right click on "Aac-320, chose "Send To" and then "Play (3D Lab Network Player-31)" and "Play"
And it won't start ...

If you are getting a download instead of playback, it's possibly because the URL you are using is location blocked, eg not available to your country.  Try to find a global link to the station, a local link, or try it through a VPN...

I will try to trace network traffic to and from JRiver Media Server and possibly end up with the solution or explanation.
As robt wrote : "Ok, I think I'm right in saying that AAC wont work over DLNA." and I suspect something like that.

Do you confirm it is upnp/dlna when you push the aac-stream to the N-50A ?

I was able to ear the aac stream in local player. So I don't think I am being blocked by network restrictions.

In MC server go to the streaming tree view, right click on the paradise -aac stream you set up there and do a send to your network receiver. You can't send the playing now stream. I may be wrong, I often am.

Well, when I do this, I don't have any new item popping up in the streaming view. All I can see is the predefined stuff. So there's nothing new to try to right click on ....
Oh, because we seem to have slightly different experiences with JMC, could you just state on which OS your run the server ? I use Win 10 pro 64bits on my NAS, and I work most of the time through RDP (remote desktop) connection.

Windows 10 (fully updated) 64 bit Desktop PC, MC 24.0.48 64 bit. I have attached a snip of the streaming drop down list showing the added Paradise - aac streaming site, which was added by right clicking the streaming header then add website - name Paradise -aac - URL - the url you posted was pasted in.

To keep you posted, I set the flow to the mp3 : http://stream-uk1.radioparadise.com/mp3-192.mtu and it worked like a charm.
OK it's not 320 kbps but it's working ...
I'll leave the dlna aac story for now, and I go enjoying the music.
Thanks for your help,

Marc
