Media Center losses license upon Windows 10 Cumulative update
« on: September 05, 2018, 06:42:40 am »

I am running Media Center 24.0.45 64 bit  version.   I have one system setup as a Media Server and 4 other systems setup accessing the server.  I have found on all, that each time I download and install a Windows 10 cumulative update Media Center on the machine just updated losses Media Center license data and must be restored.  This typically is not an issue.  However running this number of systems I quickly exceed the yearly restore limit of 10  Then I have to purchase licensing again.  Seeing how Microsoft Windows 10 cumulative updates are rather frequent this quickly becomes a significant cost.

Has this been seen by others and is there a solution other than purchasing additional licenses?

Just post here and we'll reset your restores.

Updating Windows doesn't normally cause the license to be lost.  Are you doing something different than automatic updates?

I've updated Windows 10 over the last few years in several machines, and haven't had a MC license become lost when updating via a cumulative update (or updating to one of the bi-yearly updates). So something is definitely going on there. Are you changing the hostname or anything like that?
