Only MP3 streaming?
« on: September 17, 2018, 08:52:11 am »

I am streaming wireless from my MAC using JRiver V24 to a Simaudio 280D DAC with the MIND streaming module. I have noticed that all of my files no-matter the quality are only streaming at MP3 level.

Is there an output level on my MAC or JRiver I am missing to get the files to stream as they exist on my hard drive?

Thanks

Using DLNA? If so, check your MC Options > Media Network settings, especially for Audio Conversion.

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Network

I have mine set to Don't convert audio so I'd recommend experimenting.

Thanks. I am using DNLA.

I am not a technical person so to be clear this is a change to the JRiver settings under Media Network?

Check the attached screenshot - I've highlighted the setting in red. Just set it, press OK and close MC and reopen it and try again.

I wouldn't normally contradict Awesome Donkey as he is very knowledgeable and is very generous with answering questions.  However, I'm pretty sure this advice is incorrect.  That setting applies to JRiver *clients* connected to JRiver servers.

In this case JRiver is pushing DLNA audio to a DLNA renderer.  Therefore, the correct setting to modify is:

Tools > Options> Media Network > Add or Configure DLNA servers

From there, you can adjust the Generic DLNA profile to send PCM audio instead of MP3 audio.

Or you can add the "Audiophile" DLNA profile and then associate that profile with your DLNA renderer.  The associate part is done after you set it up.  You associate it by right clicking on the DLNA renderer name (in the left hand navigation area) and choosing the option to associate a DLNA profile.

Good luck.

Brian.

Whoops, yep, Brian's right. I highlighted in red the Audio settings for the Audiophile profile. Personally, my Audiophile profile is set to Original but you change it to whatever works best for you. Hopefully that should get it working. :)

Worked like a charm. Thanks so much to both of you for rescuing me.
