unauthorised net access

This has just started to happen and causes the whole prog to crash.
Whenever "import media files" into library is selected the prog trys to connect to the net and accesses several different net names, eg MP3.com,while at the same time running a search on this pc.
Eventually each time  it crashes and I must restart?
