converting ape to mp3
« on: May 28, 2003, 09:46:46 pm »

Over at the MA forum, I read that there is now a version of lame that will support ape to mp3 directly, without going to wav first.

http://www.monkeysaudio.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=general&action=display&num=1047851115

When I use MC9, it shows the file decoding and then encoding.  Does it not use this special version of lame?  Am I misunderstanding this whole thing?

thanks,
Dan

Those versions of LAME that accept MA directly (3.90.2 and 3.92) are not "official" compiles from the LAME developers. The LAME encoder included with MC9 uses the 3.93.1 compile.

I guess its not the biggest deal if I am doing it overnight.

One more question-  Is there any way to send a file to another location and have a folder created named for the album?

Specifically, I have a compact flash reader which shows up as drive E.  I would like to use MC9 to send mp3s to it, but when I do, they just put the file onto the card.  This is a pain with the mp3 player I have.  If it could create subdirectories automatically that would be great.  I know that it can do this on file conversion, but I do not need to convert anything.

thanks

Actually, as to my last question, I see that it is being worked on in another thread- the Archos Jukebox thread.

BTW- my 30 day trial JUST ended, and I purchased imediately.  Great software!
