It being Christmas, I had some new content to import. After doing so, I navigated through this endpoint like Audio -> Artist -> :name and found 1 album under this particular artist. Going down the same path in the MC UI itself, I find 2 albums as expected. If I go down the Audio -> Album path instead, I do find the expected album.

Curiously once I'd done that second navigation (via the Album path) then the Audio -> Artist -> :name path did show up the new entry.

Is there some caching in here and/or some periodic update?
