Native DSD on Mac os x?
« on: January 13, 2019, 07:52:29 pm »

anybody tried doing Native DSD on Mac OS X?
I know exasound provides for instance a driver for its DACs allowing it via ASIO.

Would that driver work for other DACs? (this drivers is not available though. You need to purchase an exasound DAC...)

Nope, it'll only work for those DACs. Otherwise the only option is DoP.

DoP is native DSD, as the end result is the same.

Own two DSD-capable DAC's (budget one and pricey one) for my Mac's. iFi Nano iOne and Chord Hugo 2. Frankly can't hear any difference between native DSD vs DOP on either DAC w/ JRiver. Maybe someone at Computer Audiophile could help with your driver questions?

That's because there's no difference, the end result is exactly the same, native/pure DSD playback. :)

Thanks.
I agree. I am pretty sure the sound quality will be the same.

It seems DoP may require a bit more CPU. That must be very minimum, but for instance my DAC does DSD256 only in native mode. It will not fit in the "biggest/fastest" PCM frames it supports (32/384 I believe).

I've done DSD128 on DoP no problem.
