Amanero issue (SOLVED)
« on: January 14, 2019, 03:17:47 am »

I have a little issue with amanero combo384. It happen with the second track (Chutzpan) of the album Gently Disturbed of Avishai Cohen Trio: the first milliseconds are mute and the sound start a little in retard so the initial part of the track is lost. It happen when I use asio or wasapi and I have tested all the parameters of audio configuration.
- I have the latest Amanero asio drivers W10 and tha latest build of JRiver 24
- The issue there isn't only when I use Direct Sound.
- Also if I start with the previous track, and in gapless mode, when the second track start, the first about half second is lost.
- With other albums (see live albums) I have alwais a continuos play.

I know thar for 1 track I shoudn't disturb in the forum, but I hope that some LITTLE issue helps to improve an already wonderfull player.

Any Idea?

In MC's Options > Audio you might try enabling Play silence at startup for hardware synchronization, try setting that to 1 second. Uncheck Do not play silence (leading and trailing).

See if that helps any.

Even in continuos play, starting the album from the first track, I have that "hole" at the start of the secon track.
But only with that album. All other albums I play, I have no issues.

This surely helped me with issues I've had for years with some tracks in playlists (a mix of tracks from different albums) I have messed with these settings for a very long time....thanks AD

If it helps, I can send the first two track of the album in FLAC format.

UPDATE:

I've tried to resample the frequence of 44.1 to all accepted from the DAC up to 384 and the only sample rate that work fine is 88.1...

I've found another way to solve the issue without resampling: using cross-fade (aggressive or smooth) minimum of 0,3 sec.
All this let me think to hardware synchronization...
Hope this help (programmers or users).

Hi all, I'm still here...
I have done so many test and the result is that when there is silence between two tracks, the second track start playing after about 0,3 sec.
In some cases change of frequency solves. In other a fade is enough to "link" the two tracks.
But in there isn't a definitive solution.
In the most of cases, you don't hear the issue, because there isn't sound to play in the first 0,2 - 0,3 seconds of the track. Or there isn't silence between tracks.
With some albums, it's very annoying issue.

sometimes it's just the way the cd was mixed and not much one can do about it....if you ripped it from cd your self rip again using a diffrent rom drive....so may variables could be involved

I've already tried to rip with 2 different rom drive because I thought that the problem was the file, but without results.
But after so many tests I see that the problem affect too many albums and not only one.
When I play with direct sound there is no issue. It presents when I play with asio / wasapi / kernel streaming...

I've tried with a new pc with a fresh w10 64 bit installation the last MC24 release and the last drivers of amanero: no news, the issue is the same.
It seams a similar problem discussed here:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,77883.msg531650.html#msg531650
but on PCM 16 / 44.1

The only way I've found the works for all the albums is to use DSP Studio for Output encoding to DSD in native format.

If I check "Do not play silence (leading and trailing)" so the sound is continuous the issue is not present. But some albums are orribiles without the silence at the end of the tracks

I've tried another software to play music and the result is the same. I believe it's a driver or dac problem...

SOLVED!!!
I'm very very very happy and I have to thanks JRiver and their developers.
I have solved using TPDF dithering.
I have volume mode: disabled and don't use any DSP effect.
Thanks to JRiver team for implementing this option that solved this issue without affect audio quality.
