Please help with Samsung Soundbar Series 7 Soundbar - HW-H7
« on: January 29, 2019, 02:48:39 am »

Hi Everyone,

I have a Samsung Series 7 Soundbar - HW-H751/XY and I would dearly love to use JRiver MC to play
music on it - but I don't have a clue how to!   ?

The Soundbar has an Ethernet connection and I have connected it up to my internal home Ethernet network -
so connectivity is possible.  However, I don't have much (any) experience doing this sort of stuff so any help / guidance would
be greatly appreciated.

The general Samsung webpage for the soundbar is : https://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/HW-H751/XY/

Many Thanks in Advance,

Adrian,
Melbourne,
Australia.

You could use it with Bluetooth.

It doesn't support UPnP or DLNA as far as I can see.

You could also connect to it with HDMI.

Hi Jim,

Many Thanks for your reply - really appreciate it.

The problem I have is that my PC is in a room on the other side of the house from the
soundbar - so my hope was that (somehow) I could stream over IP (which would have been really cool).

For my understanding ...

- How would I use Bluetooth to do this?  I'm assuming from PC to the Soundbar.
Does JRiver MC support this?

- Same for HDMI - or is there some sort of gadget I can get that allows IP to be turned into HDMI?

Thanks again Jim (I'm learning heaps!),

Cheers,

Adrian.

Bluetooth usually has a limit of 30 feet.

If you pair the computer and the soundbar with BT, then it will be available in MC's audio settings.

You could put a DLNA Renderer (like the JRiver Id) in front of the soundbar.
