cant launch Mc 21 on linux mint 19.1
« on: February 12, 2019, 06:42:40 am »

I had MC 21 on Linux mint 19 with no problem.

On LM 19.1 I have this error message:

" nomint19@nomint19-All-Series:~$ mediacenter21
Erreur de segmentation (core dumped) "

I uninstall and reinstall MC21 without success.

Any idea?

It's possible MC21 might not work on a newer Linux Mint release. Also if I recall correctly there was issues with MC and Linux Mint's Cinnamon desktop environment which could cause segfaults, which was fixed in MC24 so it could be that too. You might give MC24 a try and see if it works.

Windows is more forgiving when it comes to running older MC releases as it has better backwards compatibility support. Linux and Mac are much different beasts, as using older MC versions will eventually stop working with newer Linux distro updates (mostly from libraries and dependencies being updated, which older MC builds might have issues with and thus have issues like crashing) and Mac updates (mainly because Apple makes changes in macOS, breaking stuff older MC releases depend on). When using MC with Linux and Mac, I highly recommend upgrading your MC version every few years at least, as like I said using older MC versions on newer Linux distro releases will likely have issues.
