I want to watch something on channel 410 FS2, but MC doesn't see that channel when I do a channel scan! In fact MC scan only see 502 channels out of 549 that HDHRP sees. Where's the other 47 channels?

What's wrong?

Can anyone tell me if the channels that MC sees during scanning depends on the guide data or is it vice-versa (MC scans the hardware tuner for all channels, then downloads data)?

As a test, I just setup my laptop with MC's default guide provider (not the one I use on my Server), and it too only sees 502 channels.

BTW - I'm also able to watch channel 410 FS2 on my comcast provided DVR, and the channel programming is listed on TitanTv and OnTvTonight website guides.

It depends on which type of channels you try to scan for.  For CableCARD channels, it depends on the guide data.  For OTA channels, it does not.

Ok, well it's comcast cable. Seems quite a coincidence that the MC default guide provider and SD both see the exact same 502 channels, but when I go to the HDHRP IP web interface and run a scan, it finds 549 channels.

I've opened a ticket with SD for channel 410 FS2. As for the other 46 missing channels, guess if I get time I will make a list....

SiliconDust provides "Premium Channels".  I think you have to subscribe to watch them.  I wonder if the extra channels are from them.

Sorry when I am typing SD, I am referring to guide provider Schedules Direct. So Schedules Direct guide pulls 502 channels (on MC Server), MC default provider pulls 502 channels (on laptop), the HDHRP web IP interface scan pulls 549 channels (including CH410 FS2).

No the 549 channels in the HDHRP web IP interface scan go up to 999, those are NOT the extra "Premium" Silicon Dust channels. And those Premium channels require a different model SD tuner that I do not have.

Slight modification: The HDHRP web IP interface shows how Comcast duplicates it's channel lineup on channels 1003 - 1879. These are NOT the Silicon Dust Premium channels, they are comcast channels. Schedules Direct and MC's default guide information only goes up to channel 999 (and both are missing CH410 FS2).

I am aware of the channels above 999.

PercData does include those Comcast duplicates.

MC default provider is Microsoft by way of mc2xml.  Did you use SD in mc2xml (your own donor version) or SD directly somehow?

That means mc2xml does not include those channels.

Thanks, I have contacted Schedules Direct regarding channel 410 and the upper duplicate channels. They are looking into it.

It appears that FS2 is new in comcast lineup.  The guide providers probably have not caught up with it.  I do not get FS2 (via PercData) either, but the channel is there (incidentally it is channel 409 for me, which is still reported to be "Outside Television" by PercData).

Curious if you are getting the new channel 837 EPIXHDP? Is it DRM'ed? It's getting guide data from Schedules Direct but, the HDHRP scan (and MC scan) does NOT pick it up at all. The channel shows up on my Comcast DVR guide, but get subscription error when I try to watch it. Seems like Comcast has not added it to cable card system yet, so I can't see if it's DRM.

I found Epix HD on two channels, but I can not play them because I do not have subscription to the channels, nor can I test whether they DRM protection.

Schedules Direct has updated my channel lineup. I now get FS2 CH410 and all the duplicate 1000 series comcast channels in MC.
